Diesel very often hit the mark with the creativity that their agencies put out, and this new campaign – Diesel Island, created by the excellent Stink Digital, is one of the best so far.
The Island sets a ‘destination’ for Diesel’s current campaign strategy ‘Land of the Stupid & Home of the Brave’. It’s a place to escape the trappings of an over commercialised world, a world that is slipping hopelessly into an over polluted mess, riddled with corruption and plagued by war – basically a world that is pretty F*$ked up! The Island is a chance to create a fresh start for the Stupid, a chance to create new laws, have non-working holidays and generally wear a load of Diesel gear!
The site itself is resplendent in some pretty cool features. Visitors are initially guided through the Island via a mix of YouTube clips and fashion shots, before being set free to wonder the island at will, utilising a nicely presented Street View style function that really engages and keeps you exploring. On your journey exploring the Island you meet the inhabitants, if you like their gear, clicking them pops up a link to purchase the products.
But the creativity doesn’t stop there, with a nice extension towards social connectivity, visitors can link up with their Facebook account and move in, contribute to the Island’s rules, regulation and gossip, commit to an authoritative role on the Island, and generally get involved in Island life.
It fact I’m lovin’ it so much I’ve moved there – to Addictive Graffiti Bay, if you wanna say Hi – and I’ve got my Diesel jeans on!
