
Recently I took a trip to Spain. Partially to recharge with a little early winter sunshine, an idea I’ve always though would set me up for a good Christmas, and partially as my wife and I had some business to attend to in Alicante.
So, on a last minute deal, we set off, through howling winds and pissing rain, through the clamour of the boarding queue of a certain orange cheap airline, to the sunshine and relative peace of the Hospes Amérigo.
Now, the Hospes Amérigo is a beautiful, boutique 5* hotel in the heart of the city. Converted from an old convent, the architecture and interior design oozes style, sophistication and quality.
I think it was just after our glass of fresh soothing lemonade, handed to us by the smart, efficient receptionist as we checked in, that we headed up to our room, deposited our luggage, and continued up to the rooftop terrace spa to purge ourselves of the mornings miles, that I started to ponder…
